What reishi does (and why it matters)
Reishi contains two chemically distinct fractions: - β-glucans (water-soluble polysaccharides) — bind Dectin-1 and TLR2 on macrophages/dendritic cells, activating innate immune signaling. - Triterpenoids / ganoderic acids (alcohol-soluble) — inhibit HMG-CoA reductase (statin-like), modulate 5α-reductase, and have preclinical anti-tumor effects.
A "dual extract" preparation captures both. Single-solvent extracts miss half the pharmacology — this is a key quality issue with cheap products.

- Marketing runs far ahead of evidence. RCTs are small and effect sizes modest. - Product quality varies wildly.
